I could write an entire book on how to bring more joy into your life, and maybe one day I will. For now, let’s just take a quick look at a few great tips for becoming more joyful in your day-to-day life.
Celebrate Small Victories
We set goals, we break those goals down and we work hard to achieve them only to be disappointed if we only make it 80% of the way to our yearly goal. However, if your goal was to lose 100 pounds, 80% is still 80 pounds. If your goal was to save $10,000, 80% was still $8,000 in the bank. If you’re goal was to pay off $20,000 in debt, 80% was $16,000 paid off!We cannot be too hard on ourselves and expect to be joyful, it just doesn't work. Click To Tweet
We cannot be too hard on ourselves and expect to be joyful, it just doesn’t work. Celebrate every small victory along the way and rejoice in your progress. Set goals and shoot for the moon, but celebrate all the little victories along the way with a smile on your face and you will find more joy in your life.
We all naturally know that when we are giving to others, we feel better. Generosity doesn’t have to be money, either. You can give of your time, of your listening ear or something else. This is a great way to be more joyous. Give something of yourself every day, every week and every month and watch joy come into your life like you’ve never experienced before.
It doesn’t have to be for charity, either. Maybe your spouse needs more from you and you know you can give more. Maybe your children need your time. Maybe a neighbor needs help one weekend. If you make it a mission to give more of yourself, your time and your resources, the opportunities will start to show up.

We have become such a prim and proper society that we forget how fun it can be to get our hands dirty. Whether it’s gardening without gloves to feel the dirt or eating with your hands or rolling around in the dirt with your kids, have fun with it and get dirty! Kids love to get dirty and we adults used to when we were kids. Don’t be afraid to get dirty and you’ll experience more joy.
Humans are happiest when they are challenges. The child in school that isn’t challenged acts out because they are bored. Joy is not found in boredom. When you’re not challenged and everything is easy and comfortable, you’re not growing, nor are you happy or joyful. Continually challenge yourself throughout life and you will be growing in joy every single day.
Change Your Thoughts
We may not want to believe it, but we are the authors of our thoughts and we control what pops into our minds, along with how we deal with it.
