Put Money on the Back Burner

Can you live without money?

Can you live without a 5,000 square foot house, a luxury automobile, five random motorized toys and vacations at all-inclusive resorts every year?

How important is money to you?

If you cannot live without money – I mean past what fulfills your basic needs – you probably need to re-evaluate your life. Sure, this seems harsh, but it’s the truth.

When money takes priority, it ruins lives quickly, slowly, quietly and loudly. It’s not always a thief in the night and it’s not always a bomb dropped on your life. It can be both or one or the other.

Money doesn’t need to be at the center of our lives and we can often do without. In fact, most people that have less are happier than those that have more.

While I am speaking to those running a business, those running a blog and those entrepreneurs out there, I am also speaking to everybody working a 9 to 5 or any other type of job and even those stuck in the horrible career they have somehow ended up choosing.

When money is the motivator it brings very little, if any good into our lives. It has to be put in the right place and it has to be treated as a servant, not a master. You’re not made to be a slave to money or anything else.

Why Money isn’t Important

It’s not an adequate way to measure success. It’s not something you must have to survive, as this man right here has proven and this man and a number of others. We think it’s something we need for survival and I know, you’re thinking there’s no way you could be like these two men or anybody else that has quit money.

Don’t worry, I am not going to advise you to quit money altogether. I am just going to tell you that true freedom only comes into your life when you’re working for yourself, not for the money. You don’t literally have to be working for yourself to be free, however. You just need to be working within your calling/passion/purpose with money as the by-product of your work, not the motivator.

Money Makes a Lousy Motivator

What happens when you start a business and the only reason you started it was for the money? You fail each and every time. Sure, you might make money and maybe even a lot of it, but you’ll lose yourself and you won’t be happy.

So many celebrities are unhappy and they have both fame and fortune. Many go broke trying to fill the void they cannot fill with money because it doesn’t fill any kind of void that’s worth talking about.

If your needs were met and you didn’t have to worry about money, what would you do with your life? Take money out of the equation and you’ll have a better grasp of why I am writing to help you find your calling instead of getting stuck in a career or a job for the rest of your life.

Money doesn’t motivate anybody because you’ll never have enough. If your goal is to make $1 million, what will you do once you achieve it? Most likely, it won’t be enough and you’ll seek $10 million, then $20 million and so on. It’s a soul-sucking motivator that will have you working like a dog for money instead of working for freedom and for yourself.

Money has NEVER created Happiness or Joy

You can argue that money buys things that lead to happiness, but it would be a false argument to give money the credit. Even if money is what gets you to your lifelong dream, it’s not the reason for your happiness – the dream is the reason. Money was just a tool used to get you there.

True happiness and joy come from discovering your calling/passion/purpose Click To Tweet

True happiness and joy come from discovering your calling/passion/purpose and making incredible life changes to do what you were put here, on this earth, to do – whatever it may be. When you find that calling/passion/purpose, you’ll know because you’ll love what you do because it directly or indirectly helps others in such a great way that you cannot stop doing it, even if you’re not getting paid.

Those truly called to be teachers have this type of joy and happiness in their life and they are some of the most underpaid people in the world. When you put money on the back burner, you give yourself a chance to truly find happiness and joy, which is worth far more than any treasury on earth has to offer.

Stop Worrying About Money

Our entire modern-day society is built around the shallowest things you’ll ever find and money is one of them. What does society put value on? Perceived fame, perceived fortune, perceived beauty and everything fake.

When you become a part of modern-day society, you’re choosing the very wide path of sheeple headed down a dark road of destruction. It’s filled with money, substance abuse, adoring stalker-like fans and hacking at parts of your body to achieve fake beauty. It’s ugly in every sense of the word.

When you take money out of the equation and you start seeking the reason you’re here, how you can help others and what you are really meant to be doing with your life, you not only have a chance at happiness, but you’re also opening the gates to a joyous life.

Put money on the back burner and focus on the task at hand.

Put money on the back burner and do what you love without caring how much it pays.

Put money on the back burner and let go of caring what other people think of you.

Put money on the back burner and start helping other people.

Put money on the back burner and live a happier life full of joy.

Money isn’t important. You can live without it. You don’t need abundance. To borrow from Tim Ferriss, author of The 4 Hour Work Week, become a part of the NEW RICH. He defines the new rich as those wanting freedom, not money.

Freedom can be achieved at a far lower monetary price. Click To Tweet

Freedom can be achieved at a far lower monetary price. Some can be free if they just have a $1,000 a month. Others don’t even need that. Of course, you may need more, but you don’t need millions to be free.

Stop trading your time for money and start putting it on the back burner. Start working towards your calling/passion/purpose every single day and the money will be there when you need it. Faith, trust and persistence will lead you to a better life full of joy, happiness and freedom.
